Honors-in-Discipline (HID) programs are departmental or college honors programs that are administered by coordinators of specific disciplines. Currently,
thirteen HID programs are available at ETSU. For more information, refer to descriptions and instructions provided in each academic area. If you have specific questions about a particular HID program, please contact the Coordinator of the specific program. If you have general questions, please contact Professor Marcia Songer (songerm@etsu.edu), University Honors Programs Office ( PO Box 70294, ETSU, Johnson City, TN 37614-1708) or call (423) 439-8385.
Each of the HID programs requires honors
coursework through designated or
honors-enriched courses in the discipline, as well as completion of an honors
thesis. Students successfully completing these programs receive recognition
on their transcript.
The Honors College at ETSU offers a range of scholarship packages
for students accepted into the HID programs. Tennessee residents who participate in an HID program may be eligible
to receive an HID scholarship covering full tuition and most fees for
a maximum of eight semesters of study, contingent upon maintaining
eligibility. Out-of-state students who participate in an HID program may receive
a waiver of out-of-state tuition, contingent upon meeting
eligibility standards.
Incoming freshmen, whether in-state or
out-of-state, must meet higher standards for funding than for
acceptance in a program.
The Honors College pays no fees for RODP, graduate, or
exceptional physical education courses.
Contact the specific department or college HID
coordinator for details
about your area of interest.
