Department of Physics and Astronomy – Postdoctoral Research Fellow
(PDRF)
– Position is contingent upon grant funding. The Department has
five astronomy faculty with a range of research interests. The PDRF
will be working with Richard Ignace under a grant awarded by the NSF
entitled “Tracing the Spectropolarimetric History of Circumstellar
Structures from High-Mass Stars through Supernovae”. The PDRF will also
work closely with co-PI Jennifer Hoffman at the University of Denver.
The research effort is primarily theoretical in nature involving
computational radiative transfer and polarization; however, there is the
expectation the PDRF will be involved with obtaining and interpreting
spectropolarimetric data as well. Experience with polarization and
radiative transfer or other numerical modeling is preferred, along with
an interest in massive stars, stellar winds, and/or supernovae. The
starting salary will be $38,000 plus benefits, and the PDRF can have PI
status on their own proposal submissions. The earliest starting date is

University, James H. Quillen College of Medicine, Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology, is expanding its research program and is
seeking candidates for a Research Associate (Postdoctoral) position.
Essential Functions: Responsible for the coordination and management
of the departmental research laboratories including the performance of
cellular, immunology and molecular biology procedures. The successful
applicant will also participate in the development and performance of
various multiplex assays on the Luminex 100 platform. Qualifications:
Highly motivated and creative Ph.D. or MD scientist with training and
relevant research experience in developing and performance of cellular,
immunological and molecular biology procedures including experience in
the development and performance of multiplex assays. Applicants should
have postdoctoral experience, an active publication record and
documented experience in writing of grants for extramural funding.
Experience in diabetes research is desirable, but not essential. ETSU
