Committee Reports:

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:  Dr. Bill Fisher, Chair

Bill went over the board calendar for the year 2004.  He said that he had reserved the Harris Pavilion at Rotary Park for the annual picnic.  Betty Tester has reserved Shoney's for the Eat & Chat sessions, and it was reported that President Stanton can attend the fall luncheon.  The February board meeting will follow the February 24th Eat & Chat.   Harold Johnson moved to approve the 2004 calendar.  The motion was seconded by Joan Dressel and passed unanimously:

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:  Pauline Cross, Chair

Bill noted that Pauline Cross has agreed to chair the Membership Committee.  Bill suggested that the Membership Committee be divided by colleges and organizational groups, such as the Physical Plant.  Pauline's committee is to consist of one from each "group" and that person will form a committee of three or four to solicit memberships.

FINANCE COMMITTEE:  Bill Miller, Chair

Mrs. Betty Tester, in the absence of Bill Miller, explained each account noting that #4, Endowment Interest Income Account, is the account from which scholarships are paid.  We currently are providing four $300 scholarships.  Bill Fisher moved to approve the Financial Report.  The motion was seconded by Harold Johnson and passed unanimously.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE:  Ms. Betty Tester, Chair

Betty Tester has added Dorman Stout and Jean Copeland.

TALES OF THE UNIVERSITY:  Dr. Willene Paxton, Chair

In the absence of Dr. Willene Paxton, Joan Dressel noted that the committee seeks a greater variety of tales, and she noted that the committee has not heard from the College of Business or Physical Plant, nor the College of Medicine.  Dorman Stout is now on this committee.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE:  Dr. Barbara Humphrys, Chair

Dr. Humphrys explained that she would use last year's committee except for two members.  Harold Johnson said that he would help; therefore, Dr. Humphrys is now one member short.

COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMITTEE:  Dr. Dorman Stout, Chair

Dr. Stout noted that he had talked to last year's chairman, Dr. George Granger. He suggested that they continue much as in the past and expand a bit by volunteering to serve as a substitute for a sick individual.

LIAISON COMMITTEE:  Dr. William Fisher, Chair

Dr. Fisher wants to:

(1) clarify our role in the Outreach Program of the Senate; and

(2) plan a possible joint session with the UT retiree's group.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:25 p.m.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at Noon, immediately following the Eat & Chat at Shoney’s in Johnson City.

Respectfully submitted,

George Granger

Secretary
