comprehensive teaching and research university with an enrollment of
13,000 students. The university consists of 11 colleges and schools:
Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Graduate Studies, Honors,

university offers a range of degrees, including the M.D., the Ed.D., and

million in a 50-mile radius. The Department of Communicative Disorders
is in the newly formed College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health
Sciences and the Division of Health Sciences of the Quillen College of
Medicine. The department presently consists of 12 full-time faculty and
14 VA-based speech and audiology faculty. CDIS is a graduate only
program that offers an undergraduate minor in Communicative Disorders,
the M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology, and the AuD degree in
Audiology. The program is CAA accredited in audiology and
speech-language pathology. Clinical training is provided in several
campus locations both on-campus and in off-campus satellite clinics.
Research and collaborative opportunities, including development of an
interdisciplinary doctorate in rehabilitative sciences, are available
with the ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, the VA Medical Center, and
community-based interdisciplinary rural-health care educational
programs. The department has had a history of NIH funded research.
Essential Functions: The faculty is seeking an individual with
strong leadership qualities and a vision to lead a growing department.
Primary responsibilities include coordination and oversight of
activities of the department, including maintenance of department
budget, maintenance of all department and clinic accreditation, and
annual reviews of faculty and staff. An immediate goal of the
department is the development of an interdisciplinary doctorate in
rehabilitative sciences. Qualifications: Applicants must possess
an earned doctorate in speech-language pathology or audiology and have
evidence of a record of scholarship, including refereed publication and
external funding; leadership; and familiarity with clinical contracts.

Department of Art & Design – Assistant Professor Graphic Design –
Full-time, Tenure-track Position –Position Contingent Upon State Funding

Responsibilities: The position will require teaching various
levels of undergraduate and graduate Graphic Design including
foundation level design classes. A typical teaching load for one
semester will include three studio classes as well as independent
studies, portfolio reviews, and student advisement. Graphic Design
courses may include but are not limited to design for commercial print
and production as well as typography, web design, package design,
illustration, and computer graphics. The ability to teach Graphic
Design History would be a plus. Research and professional creative

The East Tennessee State University College of Arts and Sciences is planning to create a new Department of Geosciences. The proposed Department of Geosciences will consist of thirteen faculty drawn from existing Geography and Geology programs. It will offer undergraduate majors in Geology and Geography and plans to offer a multi-tracked masters degree in Geosciences. Current research interests of the faculty include environmental geology, GIS and remote sensing, natural hazards, paleontology and urban geography. tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in COGNITIVE/BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE, COMMUNITY/HEALTH/CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY and CLINICAL/PRIMARY
CARE PSYCHOLOGY,
to begin August 15, 2008. For the COGNITIVE/BEHAVIORAL
NEUROSCIENCE position, we are most interested in candidates capable of
contributing to or expanding ongoing research activities within the
department and collaborations with the medical school. Capability of
teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in cognition, perception, or
behavioral neuroscience is a plus. Researchers in “translational”
cognitive science or behavioral neuroscience are especially encouraged
to apply. For the HEALTH/COMMUNITY/CLINICAL position, we are most
interested in candidates with training and experience that will
contribute to the development of an innovative Ph.D. program in
Translational Experimental Psychology, AND to our existing Ph.D. program
in Clinical/Primary Care Psychology. Preference will be given to
applicants with specialty areas in health psychology, community
psychology, clinical psychology, or similar areas, with research
interests in translational research in, for example, the area of mental
health. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in
building community collaborations and conducting health services
research/public health research who would be interested in engaging
those activities in rural Appalachia. For the CLINICAL/PRIMARY CARE
position, specialty area is open, but preference will be given to
candidates with expertise and research interests in adult behavioral
health or adult primary care psychology. Clinical applicants (for the
latter two positions) must have completed an APA accredited doctoral
program in clinical psychology and an APA accredited pre-doctoral
clinical psychology internship by 12/31/08 – Tennessee HSP
license-eligibility preferred, with eventual licensure expected.

very near completing the Ph.D. Throughout the hiring processes, the
department looks for evidence of candidates’ abilities to contribute to
