The department of History at East Tennessee State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in Early Modern Europe starting August 2008. The department is particularly interested in candidates whose focus is on continental Europe and who are willing and able to teach the Renaissance and Reformation, either the American history or World survey, historical methods, and appropriate upper-division and graduate courses in a subject specialty. College of Public Health - Assistant and/or Associate Professor - Three Available Positions - 123580, 210800 - REVISED and RE-ADVERTISEMENT. The College of Public and Allied Health at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee is inviting application for tenure track/tenured faculty positions. The college began as the School of Health in 1959. It houses the nation’s oldest program in environmental health and in the past ten years, has conferred over 500 graduate degrees and over 1600 undergraduate degrees. The College offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level training in a range of public health and allied health programs. It includes programs accredited by seven different organizations including an MPH program accredited by CEPH and an Environmental Health program accredited by EHAC. The college is located within the Division of Health Sciences at ETSU, a research and education intensive academic institution, with a strong focus on rural health and the health challenges of the southern Appalachian region. The college offers academic programs which have received national recognition for their innovative curricula and interdisciplinary rural health focus. As the college approaches its 50^th year, it is anticipated that it will divide to form Tennessee’s first College of Public Health and a separate College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences. At that time the college will apply to transition from its current status as a CEPH-accredited graduate public health program to a CEPH-accredited College of Public Health. ETSU will be recruiting a small number of outstanding faculty to complement its existing programs for the proposed College of Public Health. College of Arts and Sciences - Department of Psychology - Assistant Professor -  (Cognitive/Behavioral Neuroscience, Health/Community/Clinical Psychology and Clinical/Primary Care Psychology) - Three Tenure-Track Positions Available -  Positions Contingent upon State Funding. East Tennessee State University, Department of Psychology, invites applications for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in COGNITIVE/BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE, COMMUNITY/HEALTH/CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY and   CLINICAL/PRIMARY CARE PSYCHOLOGY, to begin August 15, 2008.  For the COGNITIVE/BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE position, we are most interested in candidates capable of contributing to or expanding ongoing research activities within the department and collaborations with the medical school. Capability of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in cognition, perception, or behavioral neuroscience is a plus.  Researchers in “translational” cognitive science or behavioral neuroscience are especially encouraged to apply.  For the HEALTH/COMMUNITY/CLINICAL position, we are most interested in candidates with training and experience that will contribute to the development of an innovative Ph.D. program in Translational Experimental Psychology, AND to our existing Ph.D. program in Clinical/Primary Care Psychology.  Preference will be given to applicants with specialty areas in health psychology, community psychology, clinical psychology, or similar areas, with research interests in translational research in, for example, the area of mental health. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in building community collaborations and conducting health services research/public health research who would be interested in engaging those activities in rural Appalachia.  For the CLINICAL/PRIMARY CARE position, specialty area is open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise and research interests in adult behavioral health or adult primary care psychology.  Clinical applicants (for the latter two positions) must have completed an APA accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology and an APA accredited pre-doctoral clinical psychology internship by 12/31/08 – Tennessee HSP license-eligibility preferred, with eventual licensure expected.  Non-clinical applicants (for the first two positions) must possess or be very near completing the Ph.D.  Throughout the hiring processes, the department looks for evidence of candidates’ abilities to contribute to collegiality and good will within our thriving department. The Department of Foreign Languages is seeking an Assistant Professor of French and German, tenure-track, with a start date of August 2008. Specialization in one language with ability to teach range of courses (basic language, grammar, civilization and literature) in the other. Ph.D. by start date preferred in French, German or closely related field. Near native fluency in one language and strong secondary preparation in the other required.
