It was also noted that Dr. Jay Allen will accept an appointment to the Wellness Committee.

Dr. Fisher moved and seconded by Dr. Stout to not have a June Board meeting. Motion passed.

We now up to 313.  New members coming to the picnic need not bring a covered dish but they must register and pay their $5.00.

Dr .Granger moved and seconded by Mr. Miller to increase our five scholarships from $300 to $400 each per year.  Motion passed unanimously after a lengthy discussion.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE:  Dr. Kenneth Herd, Chair

The picnic has taken up most of his time.  Dr. Fisher suggested a program for our annual meeting - a detailed program on the international oil crisis.

TALES OF THE UNIVERSITY:  Dr. Chesla Sharp, Chair

No report.  Dr. Sharp is in Europe.  Dr. Willene Paxton said that the next article will be on one of the residence halls.

The picnic mailing went out a few days ago.  Two hundred eighty-eight people will be called seeking membership and registration for the picnic.  Dr. Harris gave out a copy of his correspondence with his committee members.  President Tester thanked Dr. Harris for a job well done.

Dr. Stout has recently received a request to man "Welcome and Information Stations" on campus during "Pride Week," August 25-September 1.  Thirty volunteers are needed. This will be made known at the picnic. Dr. Herd mentioned the need for volunteers at the Gray fossil project.

LIAISON COMMITTEE:  Dr. William Fisher, Chair

Dr. Fisher brought us a "Kiplinger Newsletter" article which stated that only half the needed flu shot vaccine will be available next fall and the cost will be up 20% or more. Secondly, Dr. Fisher encouraged us to keep a breast of the Medicare drug prescription plans and those changes coming January 1, 2006. You can first enroll November 15, 2005, under Medicare Part A and/or B to be effective January 1, 2006.

As to the next joint meeting of the various retirees associations, Dr. Fisher has made contact with all but one Tennessee schools.  Dr. Fisher is working on a possible retirement counseling seminar here on campus as he has met with the University Benefits Committee.  Dr. Fisher has been attempting to reach several faculty who have funds in the retirement pool but they do not seem to know this. These individuals came on campus after 1981 and were in TCRS for a short time and then went to an optional plan.

Donna introduced Shea Renfro who comes to the human resources office from a large fabric firm in NC.  She was their personnel director for 12 years.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. in University Advancementís conference room.

Respectfully submitted,

George Granger
