EXPECTATIONS
FOR ALL EMPLOYEES East Tennessee State University pursues its mission based

potential; DEFINITION Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed
supervising and administering professional nursing service on campus and
performing related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED - Administers nursing care to patients on campus including examinations, medications, and treatments. - Records observations of symptoms, reactions, care and treatment given. - Inventories and orders supplies and medications. - Interviews, hires, organizes and schedules assignments for student workers and other nurses. - Supervises students and other nurses of lower classifications. - Prepares and cares for equipment used by the Infirmary. - Performs other work as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES - Knowledge of the principles and practices or nursing. - Knowledge of assigning, evaluating, and supervising activities of students and nurses of lower classification. - Ability to exercise good judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. - Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly. - Ability to plan and direct the work of others. - Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
with the patients and other employees.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for
success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications
should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable
them to perform the work successfully. Licensed as a professional nurse
in Tennessee. Experience as a professional nurse.
