EXPECTATIONS
FOR ALL EMPLOYEES East Tennessee State University pursues its mission based

potential; DEFINITION Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in
organizing and scheduling the work of employees in Air Conditioning/Heating
Shop. Performs other duties as assigned. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED - Plans, organizes and schedules work for shop. - Estimates materials, man hours, or cost on proposed jobs. - Inspects work performed by subordinates. - Assists in planning budget estimates. - Recommends changes to systems or techniques where necessary. - Prepares various reports, forms, memos, etc. - Maintains small stock of high usage parts. - Assures compliance with safety standards. - Plans and designs air conditioning and heating renovations or new installations. - Evaluates performance of subordinates. - Investigates and documents employee grievances in his area. - Drives truck or other vehicles. - Uses special purpose test equipment, measures or tools. - Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES - Ability to plan and supervise AC/Heating Shop activities. - Ability to inspect work for completeness and quality. - Ability to motivate employee work performance. - Ability to perform administrative activities. - Ability to operate machines and tools of the Air Conditioning and Heating trade. - Knowledge of HVAC safety standards. RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for
success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications
should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to
perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; vocational
school certificate in heating and air conditioning or completion of HVAC
apprenticeship, plus two years heating and air conditioning experience.
Supervisory experience preferred. Must possess valid operator's license. Date Skill
