EXPECTATIONS
FOR ALL EMPLOYEES East Tennessee State University pursues its mission based

potential; DEFINITION Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed
in laying brick, rock, stone, or other similar building material and performing
related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED - Lays brick in construction or repair projects. - Lays brick, rock and block walls. - Uses masonry equipment such as saws, drills, finishing equipment and other equipment related to masonry work. - Performs other work as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES - Knowledge of the materials, tools, and equipment used in masonry work. - Knowledge of the practices, procedures, and methods used in the masonry trade. - Ability to lay brick, rock and block as required. - Ability to use equipment used in masonry work. - Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
with other employees.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for
success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications
should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable
them to perform the work successfully. Successful completion of the tenth
grade. Completion of standard apprenticeship in the masonry trade.
