EXPECTATIONS
FOR ALL EMPLOYEES East Tennessee State University pursues its mission based

potential; DEFINITION Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed
in assisting the professional nursing staff by performing routine duties
and performing related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED - Sets up infirmary for the nurse and/or physician. - Answers phone and assists incoming patients. - Administers minor medical treatment under the supervision of a nurse. - Assist with blood pressure checks, urine specimens, taking weight and height of patients. - Cleans and restocks medical supply room. - Keeps records and make routine reports. - Helps with health screening programs such as vision, hearing, diabetes, and tuberculin testing. - Performs other work as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES - Knowledge of basic personal care needs of the sick or injured. - Knowledge of personal hygiene and of general household cleanliness. - Ability to follow oral and written instructions. - Ability to administer minor medical treatment as directed. - Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
with the public and other employees.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for
success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications
should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable
them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high
school.
