potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Dean for academic advisement of undergraduate business students and management of all undergraduate student records in the College of Business; training and supervising peer advisors; providing reports, labels and other information to faculty, administration, and student organizations within the college; recruiting undergraduate students within the college, including visits to high schools, community colleges and special programs on campus; editing materials used in advisement and recruitment; and performing other duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Performs academic advisement for current undergraduate business students and students entering the College of Business. - Assists students during periods of registration. - Plans and implements orientation program. - Approves schedule overloads for undergraduate business students. - Maintains complete and accurate academic records for all undergraduate business students. - Creates reports and obtains labels for distribution. - Assembles and organizes student information and reports. - Mails updated curriculum check sheets to all business students when they reach senior status, and as they apply for graduation. - Audits curriculum for all College of Business undergraduate degree candidates. - Recruits students through mailings and direct contacts. - Represents the Dean on various committee meetings. - Assists in the preparation of undergraduate and graduate catalogs. Secondary Functions - Prepares routine correspondence. - Telephones students as needed. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of undergraduate and graduate business courses and curricula. - Knowledge of career opportunities in business. - Knowledge of computers and their application. - Knowledge of academic advising in a business setting. - Knowledge of effective records management systems. - Knowledge of effective student recruiting methods. - Ability to communicate effectively. - Ability to assist in the preparation of student catalogs and other printed materials. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred, in business administration or related area with one to two years experience in advising students, records management, and computers preferred.
