potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Associate Director, Compensation and Employee Development, for planning, coordinating and conducting employee training, educational and development programs; conducting general and specialized training sessions; providing instruction in adult education and GED programs; performing a variety of professional activities in personnel administration including compensation, employee relations, and personnel research; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions -Plans, coordinates and conducts general and specialized employee training, educational and development programs. -Confers with management to gain knowledge and identify work situations requiring preventive or remedial training for employees. -Formulates teaching outlines in conformance with selected instructional methods. -Coordinates and provides instruction for the Career Skills Enhancement Program (CSEP) and the GED program. -Organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials. -Screens, pretests and counsels employees regarding training, educational and development programs. -Tests trainees to measure learning and to evaluate effectiveness of training presentations and programs. -Prepares and present new employee orientations. -Develops and presents presentations/programs to various groups. -Maintains and develops training website and database systems. -Manages the Employee Development Center.
Secondary Functions - Contracts for technical and professional training. -Trains temporary instructors and graduate students. -Supervises graduate assistants, interns, student works and volunteers. -Utilizes e-mail and Internet for training mediums. -Provides keyboarding and basic computer instruction. -Performs a variety of professional activities in personnel administration including compensation, employee relations, and personnel research. -Serves on university committees as required. -Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities -Knowledge of learning theory and student motivation research. -Knowledge of higher education organization and academic practices. -Knowledge of basic personnel/human resources theory and principles. -Knowledge of adult education theory and practice. -Knowledge of federal and state laws, TBR regulations and university policies/procedures regarding human resource management. -Ability to communicate effectively. -Ability to communicate to groups in a classroom and non-classroom setting. -Ability to effectively collect, analyze, evaluate and prepare human resource statistical data. -Ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate instruction. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned duties where definite objectives have been set. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required in business or related field with two years professional personnel experience required, or master's degree required in business, human resource management, or related field with personnel experience preferred; proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications required; public speaking experience required; strong written communication skills required.
