potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Assistant Director, Client Services, for facilitating an effective client services program; supervising in-person and telephone reception; supervising and scheduling counselors, clerical, temporary and student employees; researching and resolving students' financial aid problems; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions -Supervises counselors, receptionist and all client services staff. -Coordinates daily activities of the client services operation. -Provides financial aid counseling to students; supervises day-to-day activities of financial aid counselors. -Schedules appointments, calendars, workshops and employees. -Schedules peer counselor activity, high schools and other community programs. -Trains student and temporary employees and office receptionist. -Conducts weekly staff meetings with counselors, student workers and temporary staff; conducts weekly Chair Appeals Committee meeting. -Participates in financial aid workshops, orientation programs, campus visitation programs, and other special projects. -Assists in the production of written materials for public dissemination. Secondary Functions -Implements training programs for client services staff. -Assists in disseminating financial aid information to the staff. -Provides entrance/exit interview counseling. -Certifies affidavits for students to complete fee payment with Bursar. -Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities -Ability to work with students, parents, faculty, staff and other constituencies. -Ability to use English effectively. -Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely. -Ability to maintain effective working relationships with counselors and other staff members. -Ability to exercise professional judgment. -Ability to communicate effectively. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Directly supervises one classified employee. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; three years of financial aid experience required
