Function of Position

Responsible to the Director for overseeing and evaluating the operational aspects of the recreational sports program; planning and implementing the budget; reserving/scheduling the facility; resolving personnel issues; maintenance planning and record keeping; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Plans, implements and evaluates office budget.

- Reserves and schedules facility.

- Plans facility maintenance and keeps accurate records.

- Hires, trains and maintains payroll for office staff.

Secondary Functions

- Oversees office in absence of director.

- Conducts applied research.

- Participates in professional associations.

- Serves on university committees.

- Trains student workers.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

- Knowledge of current trends in campus recreation programming.

- Knowledge of fitness, intramural sports, non-credit instruction, outdoor adventure, and sports club programming.

- Knowledge of recreational facility design, maintenance, management and operations.

- Knowledge of budget management.

- Knowledge of equipment/supplies purchasing.

- Knowledge of computers and related software.

- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate recreational programs and activities.

- Ability to communicate effectively.

- Ability to resolve conflicts.

- Ability to maintain accurate records.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in recreation, sports administration, student personnel or related field required; two plus years as a full-time campus recreation professional.
