Function of Position

Responsible to the Assistant Director, Technical Services, for supervising, scheduling and coordinating the day-to-day processing of all financial aid application and award data; processing awards and disbursements daily and counseling clients with complex problems; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

-Awards financial aid based on athletic grant in aid authorization forms, consortium agreements, medical technology majors, nursing scholarships, pre-med/med majors, second degree contracts, special graduate classification, and study abroad.

-Manages the PARS computer program for awarding financial aid.

-Revises financial aid awards based on changes in residency classification, enrollment of student for less than full-time status, professional judgement of staff, and receipt of additional aid.

-Provides daily supervision of support staff employees.

-Monitors and clears all financial aid hold flags.

-Manages computer program to perform data match with Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation for awarding awards.

-Manages computer program for disbursing financial aid.

-Schedules all routine financial aid computer jobs.

-Completes Vocational Rehabilitation forms.

Secondary Functions

-Counsels with clients in a problem solving capacity.

-Serves as liaison with the Bursar's office and Vocational Rehabilitation counselors.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

-Knowledge of federal financial aid programs and regulations, needs analysis and budgeting.

-Knowledge of computers.

-Ability to make sound decisions.

-Ability to communicate effectively.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.  Directly supervises classified employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; two to three years of financial aid experience.
