Function of Position

 

Responsible to the Chief Information Officer for leading the Information Systems group within the Office of Information Technology.  Responsible for all phases of planning and the software development process and installation and migration of all ERP software and its related software.  Responsible for institutional databases and software and ensuring that the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance allows for maximum availability, integrity, and security. 

 

Essential Functions

 

-        Determines availability of ERP applications, ETSU applications, and databases.

-        Plans and makes decisions required for project completion and resource allocation.

-        Assures that the design team has necessary resources to accomplish objectives prescribed by the university community.

-        Ensures proper precautions are taken to protect the integrity and security of the data.

-        Facilitates meetings with users at all levels to gather computer system requirements for resolution and agreement.

-        Ensures effectiveness of Information Systems development teams in working with other departments.

 

Secondary Functions

 

-        Monitors system availability and ensures effective and efficient operations

-        Manages personnel related matters, including coordination of leave and annual evaluations.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Knowledge and Abilities

 

-        Knowledge of IT.

-        Knowledge of project management and planning skills.

-        Ability to manage multiple deadlines.

-        Knowledge of IT security.

-        Ability to be available 24/7.

-        Knowledge of software development lifecycle.

-        Ability to organize in order to prioritize and perform multiple, concurrent projects.

-        Ability to manage and supervise Information Technology staff.

 

 

 

Supervision Given and Received

 

Performs under general supervision.  Plans and arranges own work which is directed toward an established objective.  Supervises administrative and support staff.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology required; 5 years experience in all aspects of programming, analysis, design, system management, system migration, project management, and supervision of Information Technology staff.
