Function of Position
Provide network connectivity for: 100+ Buildings, 17 remote sites, 10+ medical
facilities. Manage 170
communications rooms, 589 network devices (switches, routers, access points),
and 12,500 network drops. Provide
and manage network services through specialized devices including: Firewall, VPN
concentrator, traffic filtering devices, VoIP Call Manager, VoIP Gateway,
wireless networking, Wireless Lan Service Module (WLSM & WLSE), management and
monitoring devices, etc. Coordinate
network support staff with the installation and maintenance of the network.
Maintain network request and needs including; IOS updates, device
configuration, moves, adds, changes, repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting, etc.
Maintain network related databases including DHCP, DNS, network subnets,
etc. Assist Senior Network
Technician with network design.
Essential Functions

Coordinates installation and maintenance of the network.

Accommodates network requests; moves, adds, changes, upgrades, repairs,
etc.

Provides network services (firewall, VPN, VOIP, QoS, DHCP, DNS, etc).

Maintains network equipment IOS software and configuration.
- Troubleshoots problems and enhances performance.

Assists Senior Network Technician with network design needs.

Provides on-call service as required.
Secondary Functions

Maintains inventory and documentation.

Interfaces with contractors.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
-
Ability to communicate network tasks and coordinate network support staff
and contractors to accomplish network projects.

Knowledge of internetworking, routing and switching protocols, vlans,
VoIP, QoS, VPN, wireless networking, general security requirements, management
protocols, etc.

Ability to upgrade, configure and troubleshoot network devices including
routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
-
Knowledge of network infrastructure including: structured cabling
(EIA/TIA), environmental conditioning, power requirements, etc.
Supervision Given and Received
Performs under general supervision.
Plans and arranges own work which is directed toward an established objective.
Provides indirect supervision of network support staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology or other related degree
required; 1 years experience required, 5
years experience preferred; Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.
