Function of Position

 

Responsible to the Manager of User Services for providing computer support for faculty, staff, and students; setting up new computers and printers and helping with data migration.  An Analyst 3 also helps to support OptiDOC client and collections, performs various software and hardware installations and upgrades, helps to enforce OIT and ETSU policies and procedures, and works with incoming tickets from users.  Analyst 3s’ support users and educate them on software and hardware, troubleshoot networking issues, work with outside vendors and research applicable software and hardware, support PDA’s, and test image and image installation. 

 

Essential Functions

 

-        Troubleshoots software and hardware.

-        Helps users with computer related problems.

-        Sets up and rebuilds PCs.

-        Assists support specialist.

-        Assists users in some sort of computer related manner.

 

Secondary Functions

 

-        Learns new technology.

-        Troubleshoots networking issues.

-        Performs ghosting.

-       Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

 

-        Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.

-        Knowledge of PC setup and configuration.

-        Knowledge of network protocols.

-        Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software.

 

Supervision Given and Received

 

Performs under general supervision.  Plans and arranges own work which is directed toward an established objective. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; 3-5 years experience.
