potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Vice President for University Advancement for directing the operations of the university alumni function; directing the alumni records function; providing support to the vice president and acting in his behalf with all constituencies; providing leadership for advancement communications and publications; providing assistance in coordination of division programs and projects; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Directs the daily operations of the Office of University Alumni. - Develops and monitors goals, objectives, action plans and the budget. - Plans and conducts a comprehensive agenda of programs and services including homecoming events, annual alumni meetings, alumni board functions, class reunions, awards programs, banquets and other related special events. - Plans and conducts pre-game activities in conjunction with athletic events. - Identifies, cultivates and solicits alumni donor prospects. - Provides support to the vice president through coordination of division activities and facilitates assigned tasks associated with any major fund raising campaign. - Promotes alumni activities through the news media and other promotional opportunities. - Develops written copy and distributes alumni correspondence and publications. - Facilitates alumni activities and partnerships for academic departments, colleges, schools and administrative departments. - Recruits volunteer leadership for board of directors and other alumni groups. - Directs the planning, implementation, operation and evaluation of the alumni records function. - Facilitates the ETSU Today alumni magazine editorial board and provides leadership to other advancement publications. - Creates and manages the production of ETSU Today alumni magazine. - Coordinates the alumni career network and alumni student recruitment network. - Supervises administrative and support staff. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of fund raising techniques. - Knowledge of public relations skills. - Ability to communicate effectively. - Ability to work effectively with volunteers. - Ability to effectively plan and organize. - Ability to effectively recruit and train volunteers. - Ability to effectively supervise employees. Supervision Given and Received Initiates programs under general direction, working from policies and general objectives. Supervises administrative and support staff. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree required with three to five years experience in alumni relations. October 2008 |
