their full potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Director of Planning and Development for serving as director of the Johnson County Economic Development Center, the Johnson County Small Business Support Center, and the Central Appalachian Microenterprise Project; serving as Executive Director of the Community Development Corporation of Northeast Tennessee; initiating and directing Regional Microenterprise Program in counties of Northeast Tennessee; working with the Industrial Board of Johnson County in industrial development and recruitment; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions -Works closely with the County Executive of Johnson County in Industrial and Economic Development. -Directs activities in the Johnson County Economic Development Center and the Johnson County Small Business Support Center. -Serves as industrial recruiter for Johnson County and Johnson County Industrial Board. -Directs the Central Appalachian Microenterprise Project. -Initiates and directs Regional Microenterprise Program in counties of Northeast Tennessee (Washington, Johnson, Sullivan, Carter, Unicoi, Hawkins, Hancock, Greene). -Supervises microenterprise business development specialists and support personnel. -Serves as Executive Director of the Community Development Corporation of Northeast Tennessee. -Leverages state and federal economic development programs to the enhancement of the community. -Updates and keeps current all marketing materials. -Performs industrial prospect development activities. Secondary Functions -Assists with other business recruitment duties. -Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities -Knowledge of state and federal economic development programs. -Knowledge of grant writing. -Knowledge of computers and related software programs. -Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. -Ability to communicate effectively. -Ability to speak to both large and small groups. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Supervises administrative employees. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree with five years experience in minority or low-income business programs; experience in directing programs; experience with microenterprise programs; experience working closely with local, state and federal government officials.
