Position Title: Special Education Technical Assistance Coordinator

Function of Position

Responsible to the Program Director for providing on-going assistance to school systems that are participants in the Northeast Tennessee Assistive Technology (NET-AT) Cooperative; attending assistive technology evaluations; assisting special education and general education teachers with the provision of direct services to students with disabilities to ensure technology related goals and objectives will be implemented, student outcomes evaluated and technology related Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals are modified as necessary; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Provides direct instruction to students with disabilities.

- Prepares lessons and develops instructional materials that incorporate assistive technology.

- Assists program personnel in using assistive technology recommended by assistive technology evaluation teams.

Secondary Functions

- Assists with NET-AT Cooperative instructional materials lending library.

- Records data on activities completed, schools/students served, mileage.

- Assists with conference presentation at the Northeast Tennessee Special Education Conference.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

- Knowledge of assistive technology.

- Knowledge of computers.

- Ability to communicate effectively.

- Ability to use e-mail and internet.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in special education or related area; eligibility for Tennessee teaching license in special education or related field; teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
