Function of Position
This position reports to the Director for the Center for Nursing Research
and is responsible for acting as the data resource person for researchers within
the College of Nursing. The
positions is also responsible for consulting with researchers to determine
research questions and hypotheses and helping find or develop data collection
tools to best answer those questions; advising on research methodology and
statistical testing based on the project and the type of data being collected;
performing data collection, database creation, data entry, data analysis and
manipulation, data interpretation, and report generation for funded as well as
non-funded research and departmental projects; creating and maintaining a
College of Nursing trend record regarding student, faculty, and scholarly
activity of the college, using data obtained from collaborating offices;
maintaining responsibility for management of raw data and project databases;
providing statistical consultation for grants, proposals, presentations, and
papers; editing papers and grant applications; performing Internet searches,
literature searches and retrieval as needed by requesting faculty; serving on
College Evaluation Committee and other committees as needed; supervising and
training Graduate Assistants and student workers in research assistance duties;
performing statistical instruction and education when needed and maintaining
data bases in the Center for Nursing Research and other grants; supervising
Center personnel and serving as office leader in absence of Director; and
performing other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions

Assists researchers in nursing and collaborating disciplines to plan
research design and provides consultation and guidance on statistical methods.

Develops survey instruments, data collections and data entry processes
for college and departmental projects.

Performs analysis of data for the purposes of both qualitative and
quantitative research projects.
Performs data collection, management, and analysis
for research projects.

Creates and maintains trend data for the college in collaboration with
departments who provide the data.
Supervises research assistants.

Provides participation and leadership in fulfilling evaluation and data
analysis for external grants.
Secondary Functions:

Provides supervision and leadership for the Center for Nursing Research
in the absence of the Director.

Serves on college committees as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
-
Knowledge of general statistical analysis.

Ability to comprehend and prepare needed data analysis reports and
presentations.
Supervision Given and Received
Performs
under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in appropriate
field (math, statistics, or related area); specialized training in SPSS, Excel,
and Access; minimum 3 years of experience.
