potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Director of Athletics for the overall management of BucSports Athletic Medicine Center; coordinating and directing the professional, non-professional staff and all consultants; integrating the Center’s activities with other health agencies, hospitals, and extended care facilities in the area; coordinating all intercollegiate athletics medical activities; supervising and managing the athletic training room; managing the sports medicine program to include the care, prevention, and rehabilitation of student-athletes in the intercollegiate athletics program; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Conducts overall administration and direction of the Center. - Implements and enforces Center policies and procedures. - Maintains professional and administrative responsibility for all center personnel. - Exercises effective fiscal management of the Center. - Coordinates the Center’s activities with the advice and recommendation of the Medical Director and Director of Athletics. - Markets and integrates the Center’s services into the community’s health care delivery system. - Works with MEAC to oversee all insurance, billing, collection, credentialing of staff and fiscal reporting; monitors all financial operations. - Remains in full compliance with NCAA, University, and Southern Conference rules. - Complies with all NCAA rules and regulations, and acknowledges this compliance as part of an annual evaluation process. - Signs an NCAA Compliance Statement annually. Secondary Functions - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of basic principles of supervision. - Knowledge of the proper care, prevention and rehabilitation of student-athletes. - Knowledge of prescription medicines generally used by student-athletes. - Knowledge of a wide variety of athletic training room supplies and equipment. - Ability to direct medical activities surrounding a variety of athletic programs. - Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with other health care agencies, hospitals, and extended care facilities. - Ability to effectively treat a wide variety of sports injuries. - Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher; NATA and State of Tennessee certification; three to five years experience in administration of athletic therapy center.
