Definition 

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in overseeing cash register operations, processing transactions, and preparing reports. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Interviews, hires, and trains new and seasonal workers.

Assigns tasks, spot-checks and corrects errors.

Balances out registers.

Maintains operating cash fund.

Prepares deposits and slips for bank.

Posts entries to ledgers.

Corrects and balances items and accounts.

Prepares and processes records such as transfer vouchers and transmittal sheets.

Composes correspondence.

Operates calculator.

Keeps files and performs general clerical duties.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Typing ability.

Willingness to work and willingness to work with others.

Administrative and supervisory ability.

Verbal comprehension.

Numerical facility.

Verbal expression. 

Recommended Qualifications

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; type 55 wpm; two years clerical experience including supervision of clerical employees and cash register operations.
