Our Employee Relations staff provides the campus community with proactive assistance in creating and maintaining a fair and positive work environment.  We provide employees and supervisors with consultation services, guidance, advice, mediation, and referral information.

 Support Provided

Consultation Services Employees and supervisors may contact our employee relations staff for confidential guidance and/or advice concerning a work situation, a complaint, or grievance.


Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Provides consultation and referral for employees and their eligible family members who are experiencing personal problems which may be impacting work performance and/or personal well-being.


Employee Development & Training We offer various classroom and eTraining classes for groups, departments, and individual and organizational performance.



Mediation Services Faculty and staff are encouraged to use our confidential mediation process to help communicate with their co-workers and supervisors when seeking a resolution to a conflict.



Performance Evaluations Evaluations are peformed annually and during an employee's initial 6-month probationary period to assist personnel in professional development and in achieving University goals. The procedures outlined apply to every regular full or part-time, non-faculty University employee.



Progressive Disciplinary Procedures (PPP-70) ETSU practices progressive discipline beginning with supervisory counseling to ensure prompt, consistent and fair treatment of all employees. Before taking any action, supervisors should read PP-70, and/or contact Employee Relations for a consultation
