DEFINITION

Employees in this class are under general supervision and serve as lead worker to Food Service Workers in a very large grill or snack bar operation and perform related work as required.
 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

- Serves as lead worker for a shift in a large grill or snack bar where a complex menu is offered.

- Cuts, dices, shreds, and combines items for display on salad bar, sandwich bar, potato bar, hot dog bar, etc., where offering may be chosen and prepared by customer.

- Prepare hot fast food item such as hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.

- Cleans kitchen and counter trays, equipment, floors, etc.

- Replenishes food item offerings displayed.

- Performs other work as assigned.
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

- Knowledge of modern methods, materials and equipment used in food service.

- Ability to prepare simple foods such as hamburgers, salads, sandwiches, breakfast items, etc.

- Ability to see that work is performed adequately.

- Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly.

- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public and other employees.

- Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
 

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of the tenth grade. Experience in short order cooking and serving the public. Experience as lead worker in a functional area. Applicants should possess a current health card issued by the County Public Health Department.
