DEFINITION

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in the processing of forms and records, and maintaining a filing system or operation. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

- Completes and/or codes records, form letters, lists and source documents with required information.

- Types notes, and/or makes entries for specific kinds of verbal and numerical information.

- Checks records, forms and computer lists for procedural correctness, edit exception errors, missing data, etc.

- Computes totals, averages, balances, etc.

- Sorts, assembles, and arranges materials systematically.

- Operates alpha-numeric on-line data entry terminal.

- May greet and assist visitors or customers.

- May distribute various materials.

- May oversee, direct, or check work of student workers, temporary employees, and/or lower level clerical employees.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

- Typing abilities.

- Willingness to work and willingness to work with others.

- Administrative and supervisory capability.

- Verbal comprehension.

- Numerical facility.

- Verbal expression.
 

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; one year clerical experience or equivalent in specialized training; type 45 wpm.
