DEFINITION

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in coordinating incoming and outgoing control of printing in print shop, operating copy center, and performing related work as required.
 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

- Receives incoming printing requests, prioritizes according to equipment required, personnel, and time needed for return; and organizes and controls outgoing printing matter.

- Operates a variety of copying and duplicating equipment.

- Maintains records for charges to departments for printing.

- Maintains files for negatives and photocopies.

- Burns metal plates and develops for presses.

- Operates a hand typesetting compositor.

- Performs a variety of bindery duties.

- Performs other work as assigned.
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

- Knowledge of applicable printing procedures and equipment.

- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

- Ability to operate a variety of copying, duplicating and bindery machinery.

- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

- Ability to coordinate printing and control of completed materials.

- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
 

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of the tenth grade. Some experience in print shop work.
