The Institute for Quantitative Biology promotes
interdisciplinary research and instruction at the interface of the
computational and life sciences by facilitating collaboration among
faculty of the University together with the community at large. The
Institute provides the life science scholar, presented by the ever
accelerating technological advances, with resources to meet the
challenges of the coming decade and provides the computational
scientist a resource of complex and meaningful problems whose
solutions provide answers of value to our society's health and
well-being.
The Institute for Quantitative Biology at East Tennessee State
University was established by the Tennessee Board of Regents in May
of 2004, building upon a rich history of cooperation between the
Departments of Biological Sciences and Mathematics. Today the
Institute membership spans six colleges: Arts and Sciences,
Business and Technology, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public
Health.
