About Us
The Institute for Quantitative Biology at East Tennessee State University was established by the Tennessee Board of Regents in May of 2004. Building upon a rich history of cooperation between the Departments of Biological Sciences and Mathematics, the purpose of the Institute is to provide a more formal structure and academic support of the efforts and activities of those focused on interdisciplinary research in quantitative biology. These activities include faculty research projects and undergraduate research training and education. The Institute is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Collaboration
The Institute for Quantitative Biology is collaborating with ProteoGenesis, a protein engineering company located in Johnson City, Tennessee, to employ mathematical approaches to studying the relationship between protein structure and function.
The IQB also works alongside The Center of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education at ETSU.
