SUMMARY An interactive web site constructed by the Kentucky Cancer Registry at the University of Kentucky allows users to access cancer mortality data and maps for the Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia as a collective region and as individual states. The site includes cancer mortality counts and rates for 1994-2002. The site provides a user-friendly query function by county, SEER site of cancer groupings, gender, and race to geographically view of cancer mortality patterns. The maps demonstrate that (1) regional patterns vary by type of cancer; (2) there is shift of high quartile counties toward the eastern Kentucky and the Kentucky-Tennessee border counties over time; and (3) cross-state clusters of high mortality counties can be identified by type of cancer.
