Indian Trail Middle School SChool Year 2005-2006


In addition to meeting weekly with mentors, Even It Up mentees agree to participate in two approved afterschool activities. At Indian Trail Middle School, the Monday intramurral program includes a variety of activities such as cooking, boxing, knitting and chess club. The students pictured here chose to learn about hand drumming and percussion.



"Pulling diamonds" is the way to tune the Africian ahisko hand drum.



See these young men playing in unision as they reach for the center of the drum head. The center sound is known as "gun" (goon).



Boom whackers are lots of fun! These pitched tubes made a hollow "boinky" sound and are grat for creating sound patterns.
