April Meeting

April 1, 2002 7:30 p.m.

Items Discussed

• Elections:  New elections were held.  The officers for the 2002-2003 year are Jason Lewis, President; Jamie Howard, Vice-President; and Melody Rush, Secretary/Treasurer.

• Recruiting :  We will start sign-ups for announcing bowling party in classes during the first week of the fall semester.  We should expect to chip in about $10 to cover expenses.  We plan to have our bowling party either Monday or Thursday of the second week of classes.  We should also use our plans to go to Baltimore to help sell our organization to prospective members.

• Joint Meetings in Baltimore: We have formed a committee to begin the process of looking at fundraising, mileage, hotels, etc.  The committee consists of Chairperson Jamie Howard, Jason Lewis, Melody Rush, and Joe Johnson. 

• Fundraising Ideas:  Ideas suggested for raising money include offering reviews for finals for a fee with the possibility of selling pizza slices at the review.  We could use rooms on third floor of Gilbreath.  Joe will check into placing an ad in the East Tennessean.

• MAA-KME Picnic:  The MAA and KME will sponsor a picnic April 19 at Rotary Park's London Pavillion.  Everyone should see a KME or MAA officer to sign up for food items.  Grad students, juniors, and seniors will be welcome to join us for the picnic.
