ETSU  ASSIGNMENTS AND WEB COURSES

Fall 2008:  Dr. Poole will be teaching two sections of Math 1410, Number Concepts and Algebraic Structures, and Math 1530, Introduction to Probability and Statistics.

Research:    Dr. Poole is working on the Worm Problem of Leo Moser that dates back to (circa) 1951.  The last major result on the two-dimensional case was obtained by Poole, Laidacker and Norwood.  More can be found at this web site: http://www.mathsoft.com/mathresources/constants/geometryconstant/article/0,,2059,00.html    Other references can be found in my Resume on this site.  Wetzel's 30 degree sector covers worms of length one.  Poole is trying to write up this latest result that confirms the conjecture of Jack Wetzel.

Technology:   I have built six internet courses:  Math 1410, Math 1420, Math 1530, Math 1840, Math 2800, and Math 2810.

Pedagogy:   I had a "conversion" experience June 2001 at an AASCU meeting at San Diego State University under the leadership of Dr. Randy Philipp.  My new mission is to teach and train prospective K-6 teachers in mathematics.

Summer 2008:  This summer I will teach 1910, Calculus I, and 4th grade Teachers in the Eastman Summer Mathletes program.

Math 1410 Class (Number Concepts and Algebraic Structures):   Visit a Windows Movie made for my Elementary Teachers enrolled in this class by clicking on the link given below.  You need Windows Media Player  to play the movie.  You may visit the following site to obtain a free download:   http://download.com.com/3000-2139-5948260.html?tag=lst-0-1
