Why are we changing templates?
There are basically three big reasons for this template upgrade:  to make the layout and design to more closely match the design of the homepage; to make our sites meet web accessibility guidelines; and to improve the function of sites on hand-held devices.

I like my current site, do I have to move to the new template?
Yes, all sites will be moved into the new template.

When will my site be moved?
Sites will be moved in large units: college/school or main academic unit. Due to server implementation constraints, we cannot move one individual site one at a time.  Due to accreditation requirements and some grant requirements, we will be moving all academic units first, on a college by college basis. After colleges and schools are finished, we will begin migrating administrative units.

Is my site on the list to be moved or in the process of being moved?
Please check the migration process page for a list of sites currently being migrated or in the queue for migration.

What will I need to do to get my site moved?
There will be several steps involved in the migration process.  You will be responsible for checking and correcting content on your site.  Visit our getting started page for detailed information on how to start the site move process and what all is involved.

Will I have to re-enter all of my content?
No, you will review and make corrections to your content.  After that, the web team will move all the content over to the new template for you.

Will my site be down,  unavailable or off-line during the move?
No, your site will never be down or unavailable to users.

Can I make changes to my content during the move?
No, once the web team begins migrating content to the new template, permissions all OU campus users will be removed.  Please get all content updated and entered or scheduled to publish for a 6-8 week period.

What do you mean by a "responsive" template?
A responsive template will automatically stack content in an organized and readable fashion with the window size of a page shrinks or expands.  This means that users on a phone or tablet will still have a a pleasant viewing experience.

Will I need training to manage my site after the move?
Yes, there are several items that are different with the new template.  We will contact you before your site goes live and hold a short training to introduce you to what's new.  See our maintaining new site page for more information.

Will anything about how I work in or maintain my site be new or different?
Yes, there are several items that are different with the new template. We will contact you before your site goes live and hold a short training to introduce you to what's new. See our maintaining new site page for more information.
