| Major Gene York |
Major Gene York was born and raised in a small coal mining community
in Eastern Kentucky. He graduated from Morehead State University,
Morehead, KY in 1992 where he received his commission as a Second
Lieutenant Armor Officer in the Kentucky Army National Guard. He
holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Business Management.
Since earning his Bachelor Degree Major York has worked in the civilian
industries of: Brokerage and Securities, Healthcare, Real Estate,
Upper level education, Television, Transportation, and Sales.
MAJ York started his military career as an enlisted soldier in
a Cavalry Scout unit of the United States Army Reserves. He currently
is assigned as the Support Operations Officer with the 176th Combat
Sustainment Support Battalion in the Tennessee Army National Guard
and as the Battalion Executive Officer with the Department of Military
Science at East Tennessee State University. His military schooling
includes: Unit Supply Specialist Course-Distinguished Graduate,
Basic Parachutist Course, Armor Officer Basic Course, Reserve Component
Tank Commander Course, NBC Defense Officer Course-Distinguished
Graduate, Combined Logistics Officer Advance Course, Company Pre-Command
Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Combat Lifesaver
Course, Mid-Level Maintenance Manger Course, Defense Packaging of
Hazmat for Transportation Course, Support Operations Course, Military
History Instructor Course, and the Associate Logistics Executive
Development Courses of Decision Sciences and Acquisition Management.
Since his enlistment MAJ York has served as a Unit Supply Specialist,
Tank Platoon Leader, Maintenance Platoon Leader, Maintenance Control
Officer, Company Commander, Battalion S-1, Battalion S-4, Material
Management Officer, Support Operations Officer, and most recently
while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Theater
Transportation Movement Officer for Coalition Forces.
His decorations and awards include the Basic Parachutist Badge,
Meritorious Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve
Components Achievement Medal w/4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National

He is married with 4 children. His hobbies include hunting, fishing,
trapping, fitness activities, music, cars, and being a dad.
