The Eddie Reed Ranger Company
The Eddie Reed Ranger Challenge Company is named in honor
of the late Captain Eddie Reed who perished while serving
in Vietnam. This group competes in the Fall of each semester
at the annual Ranger challenge competition. The group is open
to any member of the ETSU Army ROTC program who wishes to
participate. The Rangers train each morning for specific events
that they will be tested on during the competition. These
events include a land navigation test, road march, physical
training test and patrolling.
ROTC Running Club
The ROTC Running Club is open to all full time students at
ETSU. The Goal of the Running Club is to. promote running
for physical fitness, good health, and sport as a way of life.
This group competes in local running events to challenge each
individual in a relaxed and fun environment. The group will
run in at least one event per semester in distances ranging
from 5 kilometers to a ½ marathon.
The National Society of Scabbard and Blade
Scabbard and Blade is the honor society for ROTC cadets. To be selected for this organization a student must be a member of the ROTC battalion and in good standing with the university and battalion. Those students who are selected go through an eight week training process. This training is more strenuous and in-depth than the training a cadet would receive during normal ROTC classes. Upon completion of the training period the cadet receives a Scabbard and Blade shoulder cord which they can wear with their dress uniform.
Association of the United States Army (AUSA)
This organization is open to all members of the ETSU Army ROTC program. The organization does volunteer work in the community and on the ETSU campus. AUSA sponsors events for cadets such as the Army Ten Miler and leadership conferences held throughout the country.
