called the meeting to order at
The
minutes of the December meeting were approved as written; the January meeting
was cancelled due to snow.
TREASURER’S
REPORT. $10,469.92
balance as end of January. Money
has been shifted to scholarships. The
$400 for string quarter is still outstanding.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT CHAIR’S REPORT.
Blackman reported that opera was this week and she brought tickets for
sale to board members for Saturday and Sunday performances. Two positions being advertised are now frozen;
still need marching band director and will know about that position by the end
of March. Foundation assets are also
frozen; the Friends of Music account may be exempt. Sold 16-17 chairs in
Events:
March 22/23 – Bristol Racetrack concessions booth – need 25 people per day,
working with the history department; March 6 – Jean Jones concert; March 13 –
Music at the Movies, Brown Hall Auditorium, 7:30pm, $5.
NEW BUSINESS. The Nominating Committee
brought forth the names of Jane Jones and Charlie Montgomery for additions to
the Board. The Board voted
approval. Karen Clark indicated that new
member packets will be completed for the next meeting; about 30 will be made so
current members may also have packets.
Dwight Lambe will be returning as ex officio
member of the board. Motion was made
that 2 chairs in Mathes Music Hall be donated in
honor of Dwight Lambe and Louise Pleasant; motion
passed. Karen Clark contacted the
OLD
BUSINESS: We are still waiting to hear
about a June date for Jazz at Shelbridge; Ben Sharpstein will sponsor the wine; Greystoke
will be asked to co-sponsor again.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Karen Clark thanked the board for sponsoring
a chair in her honor in the Mathes Hall
Auditorium. Tickets are on sale for the
Maynard Ferguson concert on April 12th. Student Justin Stanton is a finalist in
national competition.
