TREASURER’S REPORT.   No report.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT CHAIR’S REPORT.  Blackman reported that the Maynard Ferguson concert is scheduled in April and hope that everyone can attend.  Arturo Sandoval in 2004 ??    Jimmy Self has a recital and the Concert Choir performs on April 4 in Brown Hall.  The band is playing for the NCAA basketball tournament in Charleston and Tampa.  Music students worked concessions at the Bristol Speedway and sold over $12,000 which was split with Science Hill ROTC.

NEW BUSINESS.  Karen Clark distributed packets to each board member that includes bylaws, membership list, list of endowments, expense request form, and other items.  Karen gave thanks for the assistance of Linda Reed in the Music Department for helping with the packets.  To be included will be a list of past scholarship winners, and a list of faculty projects sponsored. Benelisha reported that two new board members will be received in April; they are Charlie Montgomery and Jane Jones.

OLD BUSINESS:  The board approved Oliver Lo’s request for $600 to suppose the opera workshop; Clark moved the motion, Flugrath seconded.  There are no dates available in the summer for Jazz at Shelbridge because of the budget situation Mrs. Stanton is not booking the facility at this time.  It was discussed that we possibly have this even in the fall on a Saturday with a champagne brunch.  There is no information on FOM sponsoring a food booth at Storytelling at this time.  Other possibilities for publicity and exposure would be at the Blue Plum Festival in downtown Johnson City.  It was noted that East Tennessee Rentals has a food trailer available for rental.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Benelisha announced that the Acoustic Coffee House on Walnut Street adjacent to Sun Trust Bank would be open in April.  Louise Pleasant thanked the board for sponsoring a chair in her honor in the Mathes Hall Auditorium.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:48 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Stephen Patrick, Secretary 2002-03
