Meals
Several Institute activities include meals. These events are listed under Special Activities. Registered students, teachers, and auditors receive meals tickets for these events. Family members and observers may purchase additional tickets for these meals on the Institute Registration form. In addition, meals may be purchased in the university cafeteria except on weekends. There is also a snack bar with a picnic area located beside the Music Building. A variety of dining choices are located within walking distance or a short drive, and many restaurants also offer delivery service to campus.
All Teen Dorm residents will receive a meal ticket which can be used in the university cafeteria.
Hotels
The Carnegie Hotel is located directly across the street from ETSU and is connected to campus by a skywalk. As the official hotel of the East Tennessee Suzuki Flute Institute International, the Carnegie Hotel is offering a special conference rate. When making reservations, be sure to identify yourself as a participant in the Suzuki Institute. For reservations, phone 423-979-6400. Complimentary airport shuttle.
Campus Housing
Due to renovations of our normal lodging facility, the 2007 Institute will offer 2 campus lodging options. The Teen Dorm will be housed in Stone Hall. All others will be housed in Davis Apartments.
Davis Apartments -
Each apartment is air-conditioned and is equipped with two single beds, linens, a private bath, and kitchenette. Guests must provide their own cooking and eating utensils. Davis is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Music building.
Stone Hall-
Stone Hall, a traditional dormitory, is centrally located to Institute activities. There is a large living room area
on the main floor and kitchens are located on each floor of the dormitory. Rooms have semi-private baths. Guests must provide their
own cooking and eating utensils.
Select from the following housing plans:
Single Occupancy-one person per room. Occupant must be 18 or older.
Double Occupancy-two people per room. You may list a confirmed roommate on the registration form or request that one be assigned. If your requested roommate does not attend or the Institute is unable to match you with a roommate, the single occupancy rate will be assessed.
Family Occupancy-Available to family members only, this option allows up to two adults and two children to occupy an efficiency apartment. As described above, each apartment is equipped with two single beds. Families must provide their own sleeping bags/bedding for children who are sleeping on the floor. In compliance with the Fire Code, cots, mattresses or additional beds may not be added to any room.
Teen Dorm Program-This option is for students, age 13 and older, who plan to attend the Institute alone. Chaperone(s) will supervise the Teen Dorm as well as the social activities. Teen Dorm participants will be housed in double occupancy dorm rooms in Stone Hall and may either specify a confirmed roommate or allow us to match them with one. A meal plan is included in the package.
