JOHNSON CITY (July 15, 2013) — East Tennessee State University's George L. Carter Railroad Museum is holding a "Pick Your Favorite Photo Contest" throughout the summer, concluding with a juried selection of the best photo in September.
The contest is open to the public, and contest rules, along with application forms, may be picked up at the museum any Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., or downloaded at www.memrr.org. The Carter Railroad Museum is located on the ETSU campus in the Campus Center Building at 100 Ross Drive.
The museum displayed the photos currently submitted in a preliminary contest at Jonesborough Days, with over 70 ballots cast. The winners were "Tweetsie #12 on Bridge" taken by Dr. Fred Alsop in first place and "Royal Running at Bristol" by Geoff Stunkard in second place. Both are photos of the former East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad steam locomotives.
