JOHNSON CITY (September 10, 2013) – Award-winning pianist Esther Park will perform works by Mendelssohn, Bartók, Liszt and Chopin in East Tennessee State University’s Powell Piano Series on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mathes Hall auditorium.
Park, a young artist who has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals in North America, Asia and major European cities, was born in Pusan, Korea. She moved to the United States after being accepted into The Juilliard School in New York. In addition, she has studied and received degrees from Hochschule für Musik and Theater Hannover in Hanover, Germany, and from Yale University.
Park has received top prizes in piano competitions throughout the world and is a recipient of former President Bill Clinton’s Prodigy Award.
The ETSU Department of Music’s Powell Piano Series began in the fall of 2007 in honor of Jim and Sandy Powell and is dedicated to the advancement of solo piano performance by outstanding national and international artists.
Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and free for students with ID.
