Sherrod Library hosts censorship panel during Banned Books Week

JOHNSON CITY (September 23, 2013) – “The Right To Read – Who Controls It?” will be the theme of a panel discussion on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 4-6 p.m. at the Sherrod Library on the East Tennessee State University campus.

The event coincides with Banned Books Week, which is sponsored by the American Library Association, the American Booksellers Association, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and several other organizations who join together in celebrating the freedom to read while drawing national attention to the issue of censorship.

Participating in the panel discussion will be Kathy Hall from Science Hill High School; Johnnie Sue Hawley from Liberty Bell Middle School; and Cindy Petty from Unicoi Elementary School.
