JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 4, 2013) – “Other Desert Cities,” a 2011 play by Jon Robin Baitz, will be presented by East Tennessee State University’s Division of Theatre and Dance Oct. 17-20.
In this play, the Wyeth family is pushed to the brink when daughter Brooke returns to their Palm Springs home with the news that she is about to publish a memoir, bringing up painful memories.
According to the “New York Times,” the play “is built with gleaming dialogue and tantalizing hints of a dangerous mystery.” “DC Theatre Scene” calls it “a cool, captivating examination of the cracks in family myth and the slippery nature of truth,” and “Broadway World” says that it strikes “a delicate balance between biting comedy and strife-ridden drama.”
Performances will be held Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 17-19, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Bud Frank Theatre on the ground floor of Gilbreath Hall. Due to adult content and language, this play is not suitable for children.
