JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 21, 2013) – The Paramount Chamber Players will perform a recital of works by “Unknown Legends” at East Tennessee State University on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mathes Hall auditorium.
The program includes pieces by Germaine Tailleferre and Joachim Raff, two masters nearly forgotten among the major classical composers.
Tailleferre was one of the 20th century’s most influential female composers. She was the only female member of Les Six, an influential group of French composers in the 1920s.
Raff was a 19th century German-Swiss composer, teacher and pianist who was well-known and heralded as one of the great masters of his day, but whose music fell into obscurity.
In addition to these “Unknown Legends,” the program includes a piece by the well-known Gabriel Fauré.
The Paramount Chamber Players, a Tri-Cities-based chamber music ensemble, strives to promote artistic excellence, provide performance opportunities for Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia chamber artists, and share chamber music with local audiences.
