JOHNSON CITY (Nov. 15, 2013) – The ETSU Staff Senate has extended the deadline for donations toward the annual Holiday Food Drive up to the date of distribution, which is Nov. 22.
Through this effort, Thanksgiving food baskets are provided to members of the ETSU community – employees and students – who are in need of them, and, according to Chris Collins, chair of the Holiday Food Drive, requests have doubled this year.
Items needed for these baskets are stuffing mix, canned peas, boxed potatoes (either mashed or scalloped), cranberry sauce, gravy mix, canned green beans, canned corn, canned sweet potatoes and desserts such as cake mix and icing or canned pumpkin. Collection boxes are located in most buildings on campus.
The Senate cannot accept home-canned foods, glass containers or out-of-date items.
Monetary donations will be used to purchase Food City gift cards for perishable items. Checks made payable to ETSU may be sent to Chris Collins, Box 70723. Receipts will be issued upon request.Collins may also be contacted at email@example.com or 439-4446 to suggest recipients of the food baskets. All calls and requests are kept confidential and a photo ID will be required of anyone picking up a basket.
