JOHNSON CITY (March 14, 2014) — As part of a series of Alfred Hitchcock films included in an East Tennessee State University film studies course, “The Birds” will be shown for one night only, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at Real-to Reel Theater. Tickets will be $3.
The 1963 film was nominated for an Academy Award for special effects, and it won a Golden Globe award for “most promising newcomer,” Tippi Hedren.
The film has been described on the Internet Movie Database “What to Watch” site as being centered on “a wealthy San Francisco socialite who pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people there in increasing numbers and with increasing viciousness.”
