ETSU professors to discuss Ukraine, Russia and Crimea

JOHNSON CITY – Two East Tennessee State University professors will speak on “Back ‘To’ the USSR: Ukraine, Russia and Crimea” in a free public lecture and discussion on Tuesday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in room 118 of Rogers-Stout Hall.

The lecture will focus on understanding the current political situation in Crimea in the context of history and contemporary politics.

Dr. Henry Antkiewicz, a professor in the Department of History, specializes in Russia, as does Dr. Michele Crumley, an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science, International Affairs and Public Administration.

Crumley has conducted field research in Russia, interned at the Sociological Research Center in St. Petersburg, and was an Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs-Russian Foreign Ministry Exchange Scholar.  She has led a study abroad course in Russia, and she recently published a book on market reforms in the Russian agrarian sector.
