B.S. in Human Services program receives accreditation
ETSU

JOHNSON CITY – (March 30, 2016) The Council for Standards in Human Services Education (CSHSE) has awarded accreditation to the B.S. in human services program at East Tennessee State University.

Offered through the Clemmer College of Education, the program is taught through a traditional format as well as exclusively online and prepares graduates for jobs in a variety of settings, including youth centers, public service agencies, hospitals, mental health agencies and education.  Many students go on to pursue a graduate degree.

“This vote of support from CSHSE ensures that our program meets the highest industry standards in preparing our graduates to work in the human services field,” said Dr. Janna Scarborough, chair/professor of ETSU’s Department of Counseling and Human Services, who noted that, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the number of positions in human services is projected to increase by 21 percent over the next 10 years.

Earlier this year, the ETSU human services program was ranked 12th in the nation by AffordableCollegesOnline.org (AC Online). According to AC Online, ranked schools were evaluated based on a number of metrics and criteria, including job placement for graduates and academic and counseling services.
