A Healthy America Regional Advisory Committee Meets

Public Good Projects
The College hosted a meeting of the regional advisory committee for "A Healthy America", a national campaign to be conducted by the Public Good Projects.

According to their website,
"A Healthy America will market health to all Americans, reaching into every home, workplace, school, and community.  It will deliver messages that surprise, provoke, inspire and motivate people. The campaign will include the full range of media forms, from documentaries to tweets, from 30-second ads to viral videos. Working in coordination with community-led efforts to promote health and prevent disease, these messages will make news and prompt change by individuals, organizations, and government. "

One of their first target areas is central Appalachia, and the leadership team for A Healthy America has visited the region on several occasions, starting with a Leading Voices in Public Health lecture provided by John Hoffman, founder and former CEO of the Public Good Projects, in October 2013.  Since that time a series of regional meetings have been held and a regional advisory committee has been created.

Dr. Tom Farley, CEO of the Public Good Projects met with the regional Advisory Committee at a meeting hosted by the College of Public Health to further explore the nature and content of the regional campaign.  Dean Randy Wykoff serves on the Advisory Committee and Ginny Kidwell, Director of the Tennessee Institute of Public Health, has helped to coordinate A Healthy America visits to the region.
