Faculty Positions

ETSU is a Doctoral/Research university serving 13,000 students. The university is in the heart of the southern Appalachian Mountains with beautiful rivers, mountain streams, and lakes. The region surrounding the university is home to thriving cities, historic towns, the Birthplace of Country Music, and the International Storytelling Center. Health professionals provide quality care to urban residents and rural populations in an extensive health care environment. The College of Nursing, with more than 700 majors, is part of the ETSU Division of Health Sciences. Highlights of the College include:

·         Network of faculty-managed clinics focusing on rural and underserved populations

New opportunities, expanding programs, and practice opportunities have created positions for talented faculty prepared at both the master's and doctoral level. Applicants who hold a doctorate in nursing or a related field are sought for Adult, Psychiatric, Pediatrics and Community Health nursing courses. Faculty applicants with active clinical research programs and/or experience in graduate nursing programs are preferred. Qualified applicants with other areas of interest are invited to explore opportunities. Minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Various types of positions, with the opportunity for promotion, are available:

Tenure track with an academic focus: Doctorate in nursing or a related field, graduate degree in nursing, and practice experience required; teaching experience and record of active scholarship preferred. Exceptional candidates completing the doctorate may be considered.

Tenure track with a clinical focus: Graduate degree in nursing, practice experience, and certification in advanced practice required.

Clinical non-tenure track, fixed-term, renewable: Graduate degree in nursing and practice experience required; teaching experience preferred for some positions.

Research non-tenure track, fixed-term renewable: Graduate degree in nursing, doctorate in nursing or related field, strong record of scholarship in nursing required.

Temporary positions may be available in academic or clinical settings. Graduate degree in nursing and practice experience required; some positions require advanced practice certification. Exceptional candidates completing a graduate degree in nursing may be considered, but must complete the degree before start of employment.

Applicants must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and be eligible for RN licensure in Tennessee. Advanced practice certification (if required for the position) and RN licensure recognized in Tennessee must be obtained before teaching and/or practice.
